Restaurant menu.

How did you pick this theme or topic?

How did you present the material? (Handouts, group work, general discussion, student presentations, etc.)
I gave them the menu of a French restaurant, but before talking about it I asked them about the different steps in a French meal (entrée…)
Then I asked them to look at the menu and ask for the words they didn’t know.
I asked them if they would feel like eating there after seeing the menu. I asked them about some weird expressions used like “trilogie de…”
Then I asked them to create their own menu with typical French dishes.

How did students react?
It was fun, as usual, to talk about food. They were very creative when they created their own menus. I mentioned the fact that usually, the articles disappear in front of the name of the dishes. It’s not written “ les escargots” but “escargots”…

Did they engage with each other and you?

What materials or media did you use? (articles, satellite tv, digital projector, etc.)
