How did you pick this theme or topic?
Tabea did it in her class and it worked well
How did you present the material? (Handouts, group work, general discussion, student presentations, etc.)
I asked them, in group, to come up with 10 French people that are famous in the US, ranking them from the most famous to the least famous.
Then they wrote them on the board and we compared them
Then I gave them the name of 10 people that I think are famous I the US, or that are considered famous in the US by the French media, or that were quoted by Tabea, Elya, Aya and Maria when I asked them.
Then I gave them 10 quotes and asked them to find who the authors of those quotes were.
How did students react?
They found the last exercise a little hard, but they liked comparing how we see our “stars” in France, to how they are perceived here
